Collection: Safety shoes
In a workplace where falling objects, sharp materials, or electrostatic discharge pose a risk, safety shoes are not a choice but a legal obligation. But safety and comfort do not have to clash. The Neskrid safety footwear collection proves that certified occupational footwear can also be comfortable all day long, without sacrificing protection.
Neskrid has been developing professional footwear for the toughest work environments since 1924. The safety shoes are available in safety classes S1, S2, and S3, as ESD safety shoes and anti-static safety shoes, for men and women, in multiple width sizes. The complete collection is exclusively available at Shaped4.
What are safety shoes?
Safety shoes are professional shoes with a certified protective toe cap that protects feet from falling and rolling objects with an impact energy of at least 200 joules. They fall under the EN ISO 20345 standard, the European standard for safety footwear, and are mandatory in work environments where the risk assessment demonstrably shows a risk of foot injury.
In addition to the protective toe cap, safety shoes, depending on the class, also offer protection against water penetration, penetrating objects such as nails, electrostatic discharge, and slipping. The type of protection you need depends on the work environment and the requirements of your employer or occupational health and safety legislation.
What do the safety classes S1, S2, and S3 mean?
The safety class determines the level of protection a shoe offers. When buying safety shoes, it is essential to choose the correct class for your work environment:
- S1 safety shoes have a closed heel, are anti-static, energy-absorbing in the heel, and oil-resistant on the sole. Suitable for dry work environments without risk of water penetration, such as light industry, warehouses, and production halls.
- S2 safety shoes offer all the protection of S1, supplemented with water resistance of the upper. The right choice for work environments where contact with damp surfaces or wet surfaces is possible.
- S3 safety shoes are the most complete protection class, all properties of S2, plus a penetration-resistant and profiled sole that protects against nails and sharp objects. S3 is the standard in construction, heavy industry, and logistics where the risks are greatest.

ESD safety shoes and anti-static safety shoes
In environments where electrostatic discharge is dangerous, such as laboratories, hospitals, the electronics industry, and chemical factories, special demands are placed on footwear. The difference between ESD and anti-static is crucial here.
- Anti-static safety shoes prevent the build-up of static electricity on the body and are suitable for most work environments where this poses a risk. They have an electrical resistance between 100 kΩ and 1000 MΩ.
- ESD safety shoes are intended for the most sensitive environments where even small amounts of static electricity can cause damage to electronic components. They have an electrical resistance between 750 kΩ and 35 MΩ, the lower limit ensures that the wearer does not act as a conductor at high voltage, the upper limit guarantees effective dissipation of static electricity.

Low-cut or high-cut safety shoes?
The choice between low-cut safety shoes and high-cut safety shoes depends on the nature of the work and the risks in the workplace. The low-cut model is suitable for work environments with a flat surface and less risk of ankle injuries, lightweight and comfortable for the whole day.
The high-cut model offers extra protection to the heel and ankle and is the right choice for work on uneven terrain, in construction, or during intensive lifting where ankle protection is essential.

Safety shoe size advice
Due to the protective toe cap and sturdier construction, safety shoes sometimes fit differently than regular shoes. Choose your normal shoe size as a starting point and select the width size that matches the width of your foot. If in doubt, we recommend half a size larger. Do you have a wide foot? Then opt for wide safety shoes in the wider width size.
