Florensa clogs run smaller than your normal shoe size, so most customers order one size up. When determining the correct size, it's important to stand up in the clogs, as your foot stretches and becomes longer when you stand. The clog fits well if your feet rest comfortably in the clog without you having to curl your toes to keep them on. There should be little to no space at the back of the footbed; up to 1 cm is perfectly fine.

Do you have wide feet or high insteps? Then definitely buy one size larger.
Do you have narrow feet or low insteps? Then your own shoe size might sometimes fit as well.

Many healthcare professionals travel to work in regular shoes and only put on their clogs once they arrive on the ward. In many workplaces, this is even mandatory due to hygiene requirements. A slip-on clog with an open heel makes this change quick and easy, even if you are wearing gloves.

Do you want more protection for the heel and ankle? Then a clog shoe with a closed heel is a better choice, such as for use in the operating room or emergency department.

Florensa clogs have an anatomically shaped footbed that actively supports the foot and ensures a natural posture for feet, legs, and back. Florensa clogs are MDR-certified as Medical Devices, meaning they have been officially tested and approved for professional use in medical environments.

Allow your clogs to air out properly after a day of wear before storing them. Foot moisture absorbed into the clogs can then evaporate, preventing mold growth. Preferably, store your clogs in a dry, well-ventilated place. We advise against storing Florensa clogs long-term or regularly in a closed locker, as this promotes mold growth and shortens the lifespan of the clogs.

Medical clogs are the standard in healthcare for several reasons. They are hygienic; the smooth, seamless upper can be easily cleaned with a damp cloth and offers bacteria little grip. They are functional; quick to put on and take off, quiet on hard floors, and equipped with an anti-slip sole for safety on wet surfaces. And they are comfortable; the anatomical footbed and shock-absorbing PU sole reduce fatigue during prolonged standing and walking.

Florensa clogs are also MDR-certified as a Medical Device, making them one of the few officially certified clogs on the market.

MDR stands for Medical Device Regulation, the European regulation (EU 2017/745) that sets out the requirements medical devices must meet. A clog with MDR certification has been officially tested and approved as a Medical Device by an independent European body. This is a much stricter certification than a regular CE marking.

What does this mean for you as a healthcare professional? An MDR-certified clog is demonstrably safe and suitable for use in medical environments. The anti-slip sole, shock absorption, and hygienic finish have all been tested according to official standards. This is not only relevant for your own comfort and safety, but also for the institution where you work; many healthcare institutions prescribe MDR-certified footwear as part of their occupational health and safety policy.

All Florensa clogs are MDR-certified as Medical Devices and comply with the EN ISO 20347:2022 standard for occupational footwear. This makes them one of the few clog brands on the market with this official certification.

Medical clogs have a fixed, non-removable footbed, therefore insoles are not suitable for use in medical clogs. The anatomically shaped footbed of Florensa clogs has been specially developed to provide optimal support to the foot directly, without the need for an insole.

Yes, Florensa clogs are suitable for use in operating theatres. They meet the requirements that most healthcare institutions set for footwear in this environment. The clogs are MDR-certified as a Medical Device, antistatic, and made of leather with a smooth PU coating that is easy to clean and disinfect.

For use in the operating theatre, a closed-heel clog shoe is generally recommended over a slip-on clog with an open heel, as this offers more protection to the heel and ankle and prevents the clog from slipping off during quick movements. Nevertheless, a slip-on clog can also be useful, as you can put it on without using your hands.

If you are unsure whether Florensa clogs meet the specific requirements of your institution, please contact your employer or the hygiene officer of your department.

All Florensa clogs are made of leather on the inside of the upper, which provides natural wearing properties such as moisture absorption and flexibility. The outside is covered with a thin top layer; for plain models, this is a matte PU coating, and for printed models, it's a glossy lacquer finish. Both are easy to clean, but there is an important difference in wear and tear: the lacquer finish of printed clogs is more susceptible to damage from sharp objects such as (bed) pedals and kick plates. Damage to the lacquer finish is permanent and can worsen over time. Damage to a plain clog with a matte PU coating is more limited. Therefore, be careful with bumps and scrapes in environments where these are common.

Florensa clogs have no seams on the outside, allowing dirt and grime to be easily wiped away with a slightly damp cloth. We recommend using water as the first choice for this. Alcohol-based disinfectant is also possible, but immediately dry the clogs after wiping and do not let the disinfectant dry on the clogs undiluted, to prevent etched stains.

The lifespan of medical clogs depends on how intensively they are used and how well they are maintained. With daily use in healthcare, Florensa clogs typically last one to two years. Clogs that are regularly cleaned, stored properly, and not kept in a sealed locker for extended periods will last considerably longer.

Replace your clogs when the sole is visibly worn, the cushioning has noticeably decreased, or the upper has been damaged. A clog that no longer performs its function optimally will no longer protect your feet and joints as intended, and you will feel this at the end of a long shift.

Florensa and Sanita clogs have a lot in common, and that's no coincidence. Florensa clogs were developed in collaboration with Studio Sanita, for years the largest specialist and seller of Sanita clogs in the Netherlands. The same team, the same craftsmanship, and the same familiar fit form the basis of the Florensa collection.

The most important difference lies in the certification. Florensa clogs are officially MDR-certified as Medical Devices (EU 2017/745) and comply with the EN ISO 20347:2022 standard for occupational footwear, a certification that Sanita clogs do not always have. Additionally, Florensa clogs are produced in Shaped4's own European factory in Portugal, while Sanita clogs are produced in Poland.

Another practical difference is availability. Sanita clogs are currently only very limitedly available in the Netherlands, with a small assortment of models and colors. The Florensa collection, on the other hand, is fully available, in sizes 36 to 48 and in dozens of colors and prints with direct delivery, arriving tomorrow.

Work shoes and safety shoes are similar but have one important difference: safety shoes are equipped with a certified protective toe cap that can withstand falling and rolling objects.

Work shoes have no safety toe cap, making them lighter and more flexible.

Both types fall under a European standard; safety shoes under EN ISO 20345 and work shoes under EN ISO 20347.

Which type you need depends on your employer's risk assessment.

The safety class indicates the level of protection a safety shoe offers.

S1 is the basic class with a closed heel, antistatic properties, and an oil-resistant sole, suitable for dry work environments.

Neskrid work and safety shoes are available in five width sizes: W8 to W12.

W8 is the narrowest version, W12 the widest. Choose your normal shoe size as a starting point for length and select the width size that matches the width of your foot.

ESD safety shoes are necessary in environments where electrostatic discharge can cause damage to sensitive electronic components or is dangerous for people, such as the electronics industry, laboratories, pharmaceutical industry, and environments with flammable substances.

The difference lies in the sole: ESD shoes have a specially certified sole with an electrical resistance between 750 kΩ and 35 MΩ that safely dissipates static electricity.

The shoe you order is custom-made specifically for you, in your size and width, in our own factory in Portugal. Because we use five different width sizes, we always have the perfect shoe for you, made especially for you.

Therefore, the delivery time is usually a maximum of 4 weeks. So, you won't have your work or safety shoe the next day, but you can be sure that it will fit your feet perfectly.

The insole you need depends on your arch and the issues you're experiencing. 4Allbrands insoles are available in three variants: LOW for low arches or flat feet, MEDIUM for normal arches, and HIGH for high arches or hollow feet.

The 4Allbrands insoles are only suitable for shoes with a removable footbed. Medical clogs, such as Florensa clogs, have a fixed, built-in footbed that is not removable.

The insoles are therefore not suitable for use in medical clogs. They are, however, certified for use in work and safety shoes, hiking boots, and other shoes where the original insole is removable.

That depends on which insole you use. Work shoes and safety shoes are certified as a complete combination, shoe and insole together. If you replace the original insole with a non-certified insole, the shoes deviate from the tested standard and the CE certification lapses. According to the law, you are then wearing ordinary shoes, which can have consequences in the event of an industrial accident.
