Garden clogs with open back

The open-back clog is the classic slip-on model among garden clogs. You can step into it in a second and out just as easily, without bending down. Exactly what you want when you're walking back and forth between the garden and the house all day: grabbing a plant, hanging laundry, going back outside. You kick them off at the door, keeping the dirt out.

Why choose an open-back clog?

An open-back clog has a few practical advantages that make this model so popular for the garden:

• You can step in and out without bending or using your hands, handy if you often switch between indoors and outdoors
• The back is open, which means the clog dries faster and feels airier on warm days
• You can easily leave them by the door, so you don't track garden dirt inside
• Putting them on and taking them off is quick, ideal for short tasks in between

Comfort despite the open design

The open back doesn't mean you compromise on comfort. The clog fits snugly around the forefoot and instep, so it stays firmly in place while walking. The anatomical footbed, developed by an orthopedic specialist, supports the foot and cushions every step, even if you stand on it for longer periods. The footbed is removable, so you can let it dry separately after a wet job.

When do you prefer a closed-back clog?

An open-back clog is ideal for convenience and quick changes, but not the best choice for every situation. If you work on uneven terrain, on a ladder, or do heavier work where you really want the clog to be firm on your foot, then a model that encloses the heel is a better fit. In that case, check out the closed-back garden clogs; they provide more grip and protection around the foot.
